Sustainability and social commitment are a matter of the heart

Doing business sustainably and taking responsibility

As a family business with a history stretching back around 200 years, we are particularly aware of our responsibility to future generations. The primary objective of our actions is to ensure the future viability of the company. That is why we think and act prudently and with a long-term view.

Making a continuous contribution to environment and climate protection as well as social projects is very important to us – regardless of whether we do so with packaging solutions made from compostable or recyclable materials, by using green electricity or establishing bee colonies on the company roof. We also support social institutions such as the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village in Waldenburg (southern Germany). And we are careful to ensure responsible production and added value.

Our commitment to the environment

Electromobility

We are resolutely working on converting our company fleet to electric vehicles.

Jobrad

The Jobrad programme for employees is not only a healthy alternative but contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.

Photovoltaic system

The PV system installed on the roof of the production hall in Arnstadt in 2024 comprises 1,840 modules over an area of 3,000 square metres. It generates up to 500,000 kWh of green electricity and covers up to 80% of the electricity required for production.

Energy supply

We purchase green electricity wherever we cannot cover our own energy requirements. In this way, we save 667,000 kg of CO2 per year compared to the German electricity mix.

Nearbees bee colony

Bees are pollinators and as such indispensable for the diversity of flourishing nature and the world’s food supply. As a contribution to more biodiversity, two bee colonies were established on the roof of the JUNG company building in Ludwigsburg. Here, they enjoy perfect conditions and are well protected.

Projects for climate protection

Climate protection and biodiversity projects

Climate protection starts on our own doorstep: we want to be engaged where our employees, their families and all other people in the region can enjoy direct benefits. This is why we particularly support regional environmental and species conservation projects, such as the nature foundation Naturstiftung David and NABU Landesverband Baden-Württemberg for the protection of our peatlands and moors.

Peatlands around the world store more CO2 than all forests combined. It is therefore extremely important to protect them and to re-wet areas that have been drained. At the same time, this supports species conservation, as moors also provide a habitat for many animals.

Wilhelma sponsorship

Since 2023, we have been committed to species conservation through donations and sponsorships at the Wilhelma zoological-botanical garden in Stuttgart. After our sponsorship of the female koala Auburn, JUNG is now sponsoring the male okapi Imba.

Annual fundraising campaign for the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village

Since 2017, we have been donating part of the proceeds from the classic wall advent calendar from the JUNG range to charity. In 2023, for example, we were able to hand over a cheque for 8,500 euros to the Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village in Waldenburg. The non-profit organisation looks after children and young people who find themselves in extreme situations within their families and gives them a new home with educational support.

Further projects at a glance:

Annual donations, for example to the Auenhof in Neulingen-Bauschlott, a facility for people with special assistance needs, advent calendars for the Olgäle paediatric clinic and to local kindergartens, daycare centres and youth clubs

Food donations to food banks in the surrounding area

Shirt sponsorship of the football club in Arnstadt

Supporting share aid projects by selling share chocolate bars, hygiene products and advent calendars in our product range

Inclusion in action

Social equality and participation are an important aspect of our corporate values. That is why we have already spent many years working with workshops for people with disabilities. For example, we support the Christliche Jugenddorfwerk Deutschland (CJD) in targeting the integration of employees in daily working life. We regularly offer external workplaces at our site so that those involved can share their day-to-day work with our employees. We are grateful and delighted to be able to cooperate with the workshops. Both sides can benefit from this action from an organisational and, more importantly, a social standpoint and together gain valuable experience.

Responsible production and added value

“Packed in Germany” means we produce in Germany. By working with regional partners and service providers, for example for printing, we ensure short distances. At the same time, this means we are supporting the local economy. When selecting partners within the value chain, we generally focus on suppliers from Germany and Europe. This ensures short delivery routes and low CO2 emissions. Partners for filling goods are subjected to strict tests.
