History
From candy makers to
advertising experts
Did you know that JUNG made its first attempts at making sweets back in 1828? And that the first candy museum in Germany was opened by JUNG? Join us on a short journey through the exciting company history of JUNG.
1828 – The beginnings of JUNG
Confectioner Friedrich Jung opens his confectionery shop in Vaihingen an der Enz.
In his confectionery shop, Jung made his first attempts to uncover the sweet secret of candy making. This makes JUNG the oldest candy factory in Germany.

1980s – Launch of promotional candies
The first steps toward the classic promotional candy were taken by former managing director Walter Kühlbrey. With his idea of offering candies in individually printed wrappers, he set the right course for the traditional company. Companies of all kinds could now place their name on the wrapper of a candy and thus advertise themselves.

1982 – Moving to Kleinglattbach
Due to limited space in the building, the company moved from its old premises in downtown Vaihingen to Kleinglattbach. Since moving to Kleinglattbach, the company has experienced steady growth.

2000 – New building in Kleinglattbach
Not far from the company headquarters, the new building is constructed on Industriestraße in Kleinglattbach, a district of Vaihingen/Enz, where it still stands today as the home of Gummi Bären Land and the Candy Museum.

2000 – Opening of the Candy Museum and Gummi Bären Land
It is thanks to Walter Kühlbrey that JUNG opened Germany’s first candy museum in Kleinglattbach. This special museum is a place where visitors can discover the world of candy and gain insights into almost 200 years of company history and sweet craftsmanship.
The JUNG factory outlet was also opened – which would later become known as Gummi Bären Land.

2006 – New addition to the management team and construction of the new production site in Arnstadt
Jörg Dennig joins the management team in 2006.
Foodvertising GmbH & Co. KG is founded, triggering the construction of the new production facility in Arnstadt. The foundation stone for a new subsidiary is laid in Arnstadt. Construction begins on the new building and production of custom-printed advertising materials commences, including the launch of drinkbaX.

2017 – 2018 – Changes in management and company name change
Arne Paul Bender joins the management team and will immediately complement the leadership trio consisting of Stefan Kühlbrey and Jörg Dennig, who are both managing partners.
Managing partners Jörg Dennig and Stefan Kühlbrey have stepped back from day-to-day operations after many years, but will remain associated with the long-established family business as advisors.
The name change took place in 2018 as part of the merger with the subsidiary foodvertising GmbH & Co. KG. The new name is intended to emphasize the company’s long tradition—dating back to its founding in 1828—while also underscoring its modern orientation as an advertising material manufacturer.

2019 – Dennis Dennig becomes managing director
Stefan Kühlbrey and Jörg Dennig are stepping down from operational business and moving to the advisory board. On July 1, 2019, Jörg Dennig will hand over to his son Dennis Dennig, who joined the company in 2008 after completing his studies in business administration and marketing.

2020 – Peter Neff appointed managing director and tasked with restructuring the company
Peter Neff becomes managing director alongside Dennis Dennig. Arne Paul Bender leaves the company.
This year saw a comprehensive restructuring of the company:
The candy factory was closed. Since then, the candies have been produced according to the original recipe by an external manufacturer in Germany.
The packaging department in Vaihingen/Enz was relocated to the central production site in Arnstadt.
The company is optimizing its structures and introducing an ERP system to streamline its workflows and processes.

2021 – Relocation of company headquarters to Ludwigsburg
In May 2021, JUNG since 1828 GmbH & Co. KG relocated from its previous location in Vaihingen an der Enz to Ludwigsburg (Tammerfeld). The entire Vaihingen workforce was transferred to the new, modern premises. Gummi Bären Land and the Candy Museum will remain at the Vaihingen an der Enz location.

2023 – New business division: JUNG Packaging
This year, a new division was implemented: JUNG Packaging as a second pillar with a focus on “full packaging services.” The focus here is on co-packing, packaging production, printing, further processing, and consulting.

2024 – Arnstadt photovoltaic system
The PV system installed in Arnstadt in 2024 on the roof of the production hall comprises 1,840 modules covering an area of 3,000 square meters. It generates up to 500,000 kWh of green electricity and covers up to 80% of the electricity requirements for production.

2024 – Brand relaunch
As part of the strategic realignment over the past few years, the previous logo has been discontinued and a new, modern logo has been established.
Two sub-brands were created for the B2B business areas under the brand “JUNG”:
JJUNG Promotion for the advertising materials business and JUNG Packaging for packaging services.
At the same time, the new website will be launched.

2025 – Expansion and renewal of the printing machine fleet
In 2025, the extension in Arnstadt was put into operation. With almost 1,800 m² of production and storage space, the conditions for further growth have been created.
The printing machine fleet is expanded with a new sheet-fed printing machine (HP 18,000) and a new web-fed printing machine (HP 6,000 k +).

2025 – JUNG Promotion goes Online-Business
Advertising material customers can now place orders with JUNG Promotion around the clock. The new online shop saves customers printing costs, allows them to design their products online, and provides a constant overview of the current product range.
The new online shop makes it possible.
